To all my hermanos/hermanas en la lucha, that were pushing the Obama "hope" message - I hope now your starting to realize that the only thing that changed in the White House was the person in it. I know its hard to believe it but seriously if a party owned the congress and the senate yet couldn't even pass a cheapened corporate welfare health care plan - did you really think they would ever pass immigration reform? I know you all voted for Obama because of the promise, but guess what? Instead of pushing what we all wanted, games were played and we were used for our votes. Maybe its time we open eyes to the reality around us. Are we going to rally again next election to sell our votes to empty promises, and then sit silent waiting for something that never comes? What happened to our so called leaders that told us our vote was going to bring about change, posed for pics with Democrats then told us to stop rallying and wait because reform legislation was on its way. Maybe its time we start to wake up, stand up again, and stop waiting for fake promises to do what the people should. Peace. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703569004575009140238567912.html?mod=googlenews_wsj

Back in early 2001 and before families didnt have to be torn apart for years at a time just to become legal.

I am disappointed in some aspects but the wheels do move slow in the big house. The fighting in the Middle East should end so I am angered by the fact that we will be in Afghanistan for awhile ,possibly 4 years from one estimate. Healthcare is needed more that anything in this country and the lobbyists for the drug copmanies are hard at work spreading their lies to confuse and anger people.

I still have faith in Obama, and I still have faith of good things to come. But I single out those good old boy white men republicans who still carry on the banner of racism and class hatred.Yes my friends,no matter how a few of you want to cover it up,it is still the white man controlling what we get and what he thinks we deserve. The republican party is taking what ever it can get from the spineless leaders Pelosi and Reid. There is no dealing with the right wing monsters who inhabit the halls of congress,I wish Obama could realize that.Too bad.Hey people of MASS WHO VOTED FOR THAT FOOL,I HOPE YOU NEED HEALTH CARE THIS YEAR AND ARE TURNED DOWN.SORRY,BUT YOU JUST VOTED AGAINST YOUR BEST INTERESTS.

Of course, nobody ever wants to be wrong, even when all truths point them in that direction. Many will even hold on to their mistake, even after this president is gone and nothing changes - they'll create an excuse for his failure and say the Republican's kept him from doing anything, without recognizing he wasn't doing anything to begin with.
Some friends of mine in different circles mentioned before that Obama's election would result in a long time of rebuilding for those of us fighting for real change. They said, that his election would slow things, as many fighters become reformists, tricked into believing theres a chance and too stubborn to realize they were led astray.
Its a shame, but it wasn't unexpected.
Perhaps, when you start looking back you'll start to see the truth.
Bush said we would be both in Iraq and Afghanistan for at least another several years and then pull out. Obama campaigned promising a pullout, then he said, he's pulling out the troops in another several years. Nothings changed.
Republican's pushed corporate welfare and economic stimulus during Bush's term, Obama continued it. The only difference was the extent of the corporate welfare and whose corporations were getting the funding.
Wait until you start to hear the plans for education - a play right out of King Richard Daley's and George Bush's book as school choice becomes the hot topic.
It'd be funny as hell, if it wasn't so sad how many good brothers and sisters are lost on "hope" island - feeling they voted, their man won, they can now go back to the TV/club booty world of not giving a sh*t about what's going on.
Too bad, because when it hits, its going to hit hard, too bad the media and democrats will be right there selling the Republican-excuse and our gente will be there buying.
Peace.

Absolutely Brother - I will be the first to say it was a mistake - I AS A VOTER, FAILED MY COUNTRY!
Obama's recent actions and promises to FREEZE SPENDING, the Supreme Court, etc - It's no longer simply disappointing, it's getting down right frightening.
Strap yourselves in - more coming.

Most of the money that was loaned, yes loaned not given, has been repaid. The recent rulings on corporate donations pissed me off and the president mentioned it in his state of the union address and the deciding judge was a appointment form the previous administration. Rebuilding does take time. Remember the situation that this country is in took awhile. The"freeze on spending" is something that may have to happen to get this country in order and these items most definitely should be examined by the populace. I have not read heard about his plan for education so cannot comment on that. I am trouble by the ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and there is word the the draft might start up so this item is very important.

Lately he is talking more like a community organizer,a little tougher.BUT once again those right wing and racist you know who are saying no,no,no to even thing that would benefit their own voters. The plan of the corporations and there stooges is to delay until the next election any changes that would be good for THE COUNTRY.This of course would make many voters turn against Obama and vote back into power those who would enslave them.

Although I am one who is also greatly disappointed on the ongoing War, I must also say that there have been more advocacy during Obama's presidency than previous ones. Obama did order the closing of Guantanamo Bay and attempted to strengthen the relationship with Native American constituents by proposing more governmental funding as as well appointing Kimberly K. Teehee, a member of the Cherokee Nation, as senior policy adviser for Native American affairs and appointed more people of color in his Cabinet like Hilda Solis. Not to say that having more people of color will "bring about change" but for once, I'm glad to see a President who is being more inclusive and aware. And he is not the "great hope" and people should not have voted under the assumption that he would bring about "revolutionary changes." He is still a politician, he still needs to work with other politicians and one person alone cannot be responsible to bring about change. We should never stop fighting to bring about changes to our communities....historically, grassroots movements have brought about much needed changes.

He is also trying to lay a long term foundation for changes just as a good community organizer does.If there is a problem is those who thought that overnight the GBUSH destruction of this country would be healed.IT is AMERICANS that are the problem!!!!!!It is those millions who will never give hope a thought.Too many are willing to hang themselves to prove their ridiculous notions.Even the state that voted in that rediculous republican will lose their health care system. The Sarah Palin type responders will dig their own graves so to speak. The unwiilingness to see a future for thier OWN childrens future is quite insane.
